Oil plunges as US and Iran weigh second round of truce talks
OIL fell sharply on signs Washington and Teheran are seeking to arrange a second round of peace talks.
Brent fell 4.6 per cent to settle below US$95, while West Texas Intermediate dropped 7.9 per cent to settle near US$91. The aim is to hold further discussions before an April 7 ceasefire expires next week, people familiar with the matter said. Iran is also said to be considering a short-term pause to its shipments through the Strait of Hormuz to avoid testing a US blockade and scuppering a fresh round of peace talks.
